ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Thanks to American Airlines, residents of the state's capital city are now able to take a commercial flight directly to Los Angeles.

The nonstop flights began Monday, and not even counting the 60-mile drive from Santa Fe to the Sunport, the trip will take about half the time of flights that stop in Phoenix on the way to L.A.: just over two hours compared to three hours, 50 minutes.

For now, American Airlines has six round-trip L.A. to Santa Fe flights a week, with no more than one a day each way.

Information and booking flights can be done online at aa.com.
