WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ky. — In late May 2025, an EF-2 tornado tore through a community in Washington County.

The winds hit homes along Long Run Road, injuring several and killing one man.

The victim was later identified as Ronnie Hill. Hill and his fiancée, Tonya Orberson, took shelter in their laundry room.

"Ronnie got on top, and he said, 'You hold on and do not let go. I love you more,'" Orberson said.

When the storm ripped through, they were tossed from their house into a field on their property.

"And when I woke up in the middle of the field, he was laying right beside of me, and I tried to get him to wake up, and he wouldn't wake up. And I looked down at his face, and I knew he was gone," Orberson said. "Right then, that just shattered my heart."
