MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - Embattled Penn-Harris-Madison school trustee Matt Chaffee has resigned his post.

Chaffee made the announcement by email on Monday.

It was last year that Chaffee’s fellow board members unanimously passed a resolution calling for Chaffee to resign based on allegations made by a local blogger.

Chaffee has filed a lawsuit against the blogger, Clifton French, alleging he was defamed.

In his emailed statement, Chaffee named an extensive list of people and media outlets he claimed advanced the allegations against him.

Chaffee made a statement saying, “Making the decision to resign as trustee is the right decision for many reasons.”

He went on to thank his supporters and vowed to clear his name in court.
