MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Ark. - Two people are dead and two others injured in a six-car crash that Arkansas State Police said was caused by smoke.
Police said the crash occurred at around 3:30 on Friday afternoon on State Highway 181, north of State Highway 140, between Manila and Osceola.
ASP said they believe smoke from a field burning east of the highway caused "zero-visibility conditions" that had slowed traffic on Highway 181. Police said they believe a car driven by 21-year-old Mackenzie Marie Risner struck the back of a semi-truck, causing the car to roll into a ditch on the side of the road; a second car, driven by 32-year-old Jan Sebastian Rabie, hit the back of the same semi-truck and caused a chain reaction that struck several other cars.
