Gary McAllister has confessed his uncertainty over whether Steven Gerrard would be open to a Rangers comeback after nearly nine months away from football.

However, the former England star's ex-deputy hinted at his eagerness to reunite with the Liverpudlian should he decide on a second spell at Ibrox.

McAllister played a mentoring role to Gerrard during their time together at Anfield in the early 2000s and joined forces again when Gerrard took the helm at Gers in 2018, aiding the club in securing the Premiership title three years later with an unbeaten league season.

The 60-year-old then accompanied Gerrard and future Light Blues manager Michael Beale to Aston Villa later that year, but their stint at Villa Park was short-lived, resulting in their dismissal in October 2022.
