An Air India flight from Colombo to Chennai carrying 158 passengers suffered a bird hit on Tuesday, airport officials told news agency PTI . The incident came to light after the aircraft landed at Chennai airport.
The bird hit was detected after it touched down at the airport in Chennai. All passengers disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed. Following the detection of the bird strike, the plane was immediately grounded for inspection.
Air India engineers conducted detailed checks, after which the airline cancelled the aircraft's return journey to Colombo. To avoid disruption, the airline arranged an alternative aircraft, which later flew 137 passengers back to Colombo, officials added.
