FOXBOROUGH - In wake of the Patriots stunning upset of the Bills Sunday night, much of the attention has been focused on Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs.
And rightfully so.
Maye announced his arrival as a legitimate star on the national stage, while Diggs reminded everyone of the type of force he can be.
But there was so much more to that improbable win.
The Patriots defense held Josh Allen, whose offense was averaging 33.25 points per game (the NFL’s second best) to just 20 points.
They also shut down the Bills top-ranked run game, holding James Cook to just 49 yards on 15 carries. Milton Williams and Christian Barmore were beasts up front.
Perhaps lost in all the euphoria of 23-20 primetime victory was one more nugget: the impact Christian Gonzalez has had since returning.
