A supermarket which last month was working out the cheapest for a basket of basics has slashed the price of hundreds of family favourites.
For half of September, Asda was cheaper than both Aldi and Lidl in the M.E.N.'s weekly shopping comparison which tracks the cost of the same eight essentials at the six main supermarkets.
Now the retailer has announced its cut the price of 956 everyday grocery products both in-store and online - with some prices dropping by over 30%.
Prices have reduced by an average of 6% across a host of categories including core grocery, household and non-edible.
