An Edinburgh private hire driver has had his licence revoked after a stabbing a takeaway owner.

Yusuf Eroglu, 38, stabbed Aydin Dag after he travelled to St Andrews to confront the Shawarma House owner over unpaid debts.

On Tuesday, October 7, an Edinburgh Council committee agreed his licence to drive a private hire vehicle in the city would be stripped away with immediate effect.

Eroglu is currently serving a 42-month sentence at HMP Low Moss following the street attack. The father-of-two, previously of Harewood Crescent, left his victim seriously injured after the attack on November 7, 2023.

Inspector Copeland of Police Scotland told the committee on Tuesday Eroglu was 'no longer a fit and proper person' and felt due to the nature of the incident he should no longer hold a lice
