Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday announced that the deadline for the ongoing Socio-Economic and Academic Survey, commonly known as the caste census, has been extended. He said the survey will be completed within the next 12 days, adding that a detailed review meeting was being held in Bengaluru to finalise the new timeline.

Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah said, “I am convening a meeting on the survey. Immediately after the Valmiki Jayanti celebrations, I will take up the review meeting." The meeting was attended by Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission Chairman Madhusudhan R Naik, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, and senior officials.
