LEVY COUNTY, Fla. —
Three people have died after a small plane that departed from Kentucky crashed in a rural Florida county Sunday.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. when officials say a plane went down about a mile from the Williston Airport in Levy County.
The plane was returning from Lebanon, Kentucky and trying to land to refuel.
Residents said they didn't hear the initial crash, but saw the smoke shortly after.
According to officials, the remote location of the crash likely prevented more casualties.
Federal investigators are now working to determine what caused the crash.
