Jay Ramras has a vision for Pikes Landing.

Bit by bit, his dream is coming true — bolstered by the recent designation of Pikes Landing as a National Historic Site just a few months ago.

“It took us 21 months,” owner Jay Ramras said. “We embrace history.”

The historic site is part of a larger 12-acre lot that includes Pike’s Waterfront Lodge and a flurry of new construction building additional themed accommodations and activities.

It all began with founder Lloyd H. Pike, largely forgotten by history, but now reintroduced to a whole new generation.

“A lot of people thought Pikes was named that because of the fish. You know there are pike in the Chena River. But they didn’t link it to a person,” Ramras said. “We brought him back.”
