Howard County police said a new red-light camera is up and running in Columbia.

The camera at northbound Broken Land Parkway and Hickory Ridge Road went live Monday. After a 30-day warning period, drivers who fail to stop on red will be issued a fine of $75 for each violation.

There are more than 20 red light cameras operating at intersections in the county in an effort to reduce traffic accidents.
