Arizona Western College, Mexican Consulate in Yuma and Yuma County Arts and Cultural Group have opened the call for participants and invited the public to the Catrinas and Catrines Contest 2025, which will be held on Oct. 30.

The invitation is open to people of all ages to compete in the contest, which will award $400 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place, as well as a fourth prize of $100 for the Catrina or Catrín chosen by the public vote.

“It is an event that we try to improve every year, and this year we are including a performance by a Mexican folkloric dance group and continuing with the exhibition of Day of the Dead Altars created by AWC students and consulate staff,” said Itzel Flores of the Mexican Consulate in Yuma.
