PHOENIX — A crash in west Phoenix over the weekend resulted in the death of a 6-year-old girl and critical injuries to her younger sister.

It happened near 75th Avenue on Interstate 10 Sunday evening, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a pickup truck hit another vehicle, causing the vehicle to hit a concrete median. According to court records, one adult and four children were in the vehicle that hit the concrete median.

DPS said a 6-year-old girl from Phoenix later died from injuries sustained in the crash. A 4-year-old was also taken to the hospital.

The girl's family identified the 6-year-old as Armyah. They also said Armyah's younger sister has a serious brain injury.
