The Colts are bringing back a familiar face to replace starting kicker Spencer Shrader, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL and MCL in his right knee on a late hit by Raiders safety Tristin McCollum Sunday.

Indianapolis is signing Michael Badgley, according to multiple sources, the veteran kicker who made 18 of 21 field goals and all 39 extra points to solidify the kicking position for the Colts after turmoil at the position to open the 2021 season.

But Badgley, 30, has not been a team’s regular kicker for any length of time since the 2022 season, when he made 20 of 24 kicks for the Lions . Badgley served as Detroit’s kicker for four games to start 2023, but he has not kicked in an NFL game since then, likely because he lacks leg strength.
