LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools has canceled after school activities on Tuesday due to weather.

The district made the decision due to heavy rains which caused flash flooding around the Louisville area.

“The safety of our participants, coaches, and staff is our top priority. We urge everyone to avoid unnecessary travel and follow all local weather advisories,” JCPS said in a statement.

All sports activities are also included in the cancellation.

Between 2 to 4 inches of rain have fallen in Kentucky as thunderstorms cross over the area. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

Louisville remains under a flash flood warning until 2:15 p.m.
