RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia Commonwealth University is investigating multiple reports of alleged hazing by a fraternity that the school does not officially recognize.
The university issued an alert Tuesday revealing that the alleged crimes occurred off-campus between Oct. 3 and Oct. 6. Reports indicate that pledges from Theta Chi were forced to take part in extreme physical exercise and battery, and were forced to drink alcohol.
No suspects have been identified yet, but VCU’s Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity is investigating with assistance from VCU Police.
The investigation involves an unrecognized fraternity, meaning the organization does not have official university approval or oversight.
