(FOX40.COM) — A shooting in South Sacramento left two people with gunshot wounds on Monday night.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, a gang member was shot in the hand around 9:30 p.m. on the 400 block of 47th Avenue. Deputies responded to the scene after a 7-round ShotSpotter was activated.

Deputies found out that the gang member had taken himself to the hospital, but his form of transportation is unknown, SCSO said.

The sheriff's office stated that when deputies arrived at the scene, they found a woman who was in the car, shot in the leg. She was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, it is unknown what led up to the shooting.
