SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A $5 million lawsuit was filed Tuesday after a Suffolk student suffered a broken back, neck swelling and concussion following an attack on a school bus Sept. 24, according to a release by Anderson Law.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the victim's mother, Elizabeth Feagans, and names the Suffolk City School Board and bus driver as defendants. According to the complaint, the driver allegedly failed to stop the bus, intervene, or summon medical help as the child was left crying and injured for nearly 10 minutes before being dropped off.

The complaint further alleges Suffolk Public Schools failed to supervise students, failed to render aid and failed to properly train and oversee transportations staff responsible for student safety.
