DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- The eight new firefighters for Lower Paxton Township will officially be sworn in Tuesday night.

The new firefighters are first ever paid in the township and will help ensure that residents have a quick response at all times of the day.

To cover the cost of the firefighters' salaries, fire taxes were increased.

Lower Paxton will still keep its 75 volunteer firefighters. The township was the largest in Dauphin County that relied on volunteer firefighters before being able to get eight paid ones.
