(WHTM) -- The Steelton-Highspire School District will not have in-person classes Wednesday after going into lockdown the day before.

A heavy police scene unfolded Tuesday blocks from Steelton-Highspire High School after one person was killed and another injured in a shooting on South 4th St. between Locust and Walnut streets, Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo said.

All district buildings went into lockdown just before 3 p.m. “out of an abundance of caution,” the district said. Students and staff remained in lockdown until after 5 p.m., when a staggered dismissal started.
