A man died Tuesday morning in Lowell after being hit by a trash truck, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

The initial investigation into the crash suggests the truck struck the man while it was backing up on Spring Street, the district attorney’s office said in a press release. The man was declared dead at the scene.

The trash truck also hit a woman, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the district attorney’s office said.

The district attorney’s office is investigating the crash with Lowell and Massachusetts State Police. No further information has been released.
