Minnesota lost one of its few IMAX theaters earlier this year when CMX closed all of its theaters in the state.
But another is coming to fill the void, as Emagine Entertainment unveiled on Tuesday that it will open the largest IMAX screen in the state at its Emagine Lakeville location.
The screen, which features 4K laser projection and multichannel sound, will make its debut on Dec. 19 for the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third movie in James Cameron's big-budget series about the Na'vi.
The theater at 20653 Keokuk Ave. will be Emagine's only IMAX screen in Minnesota. However, the company owns many theaters in the state, including locations in Delano, Eagan, East Bethel, Monticello, Plymouth, Rogers, Waconia, and White Bear Township.
