EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — It hasn't felt much like fall lately, but if you're looking to take in some foliage, this coming weekend may be the time to do it.
The warm and dry weather we've been experiencing has caused some leaf color to come through a bit earlier this year. Christopher Riely, a forestry specialist at URI, told 12 News this year's foliage period may be shorter than usual and the colors could be muted.
Northern New England is at or past its peak right now, while Southern New England won't fully peak until later in October.
In the video above, Riely speaks with 12 News Meteorologist Catie McNeil about how the weather is affecting the foliage this fall.
