MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Farmers across northeast Wisconsin are expressing concern over undocumented workers no longer showing up for work, fearing a potential ICE raid on their property.

This comes after 24 people were arrested recently, in Manitowoc County, by ICE, with the agency saying six of them have convictions and previous run-ins with law enforcement.

So far, ICE hasn’t targeted any farms, at least in northeast Wisconsin, but that hasn’t alleviated the concern.

Many groups, working with undocumented immigrants, say they are skipping work, and that’s placing a burden on area farmers.

Over the past 26 years, Michael Slattery has been a farmer in Manitowoc County, outside Maribel, but right now, it’s hard to find help, and he’s not alone in the state’s AG industry.
