ATTALLA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Authorities in Etowah County are investigating a homicide they said happened Tuesday morning, Oct. 7.

The Etowah County Coroner’s Office said 40-year-old David Smothers was killed.

A suspect was identified as Arthur Reynolds. He is in custody at the Etowah County Jail on charges of capital murder.

A heavy Attalla Police Department presence was seen earlier Tuesday in the area of Burke Avenue and Osborn Street.

No other details are currently available, but we’ll update you when we learn more.
