BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Veterans were honored on Tuesday, Oct. 7 in an Honor Flight, which departed from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

An Honor Flight is described as a way to celebrate veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C., to see the monuments that have been built in their honor.

The American Legion Post 255 sponsored the October Honor Flight, which included two World War II veterans, as well as fifteen Vietnam War veterans, according to an organizer with the American Legion Post 255.

Organizers with the American Legion Post 255 shared that the two World War II veterans were surprised with matching jackets, embroidered with “World War II Veteran.”
