BIBB COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Federal investigators are trying to determine if an alleged child sex trafficking ring in Bibb County, with victims as young as 3 years old, is linked to a violent gang with roots in Southern California, and an allegiance to the Mexican Mafia prison gang.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that one of the eight suspects is a Sureños gang member. Andres Trejo-Velasquez is accused of selling children for sex in a scheme that was undetected for years.

“They deal with drugs, they deal with human trafficking, various crimes, but they are a violent, violent crew,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge John Clayton, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
