A Hartford police officer was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence in New Britain over the weekend.

New Britain police said Officer Brenden Lytton was arrested on Sunday morning after being found asleep behind the wheel while stopped at a traffic light in the East Main Street area.

Lytton was arrested for operating under the influence and interfering with an officer.

He has been placed on modified duty pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.

Police said he was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17.
