OAKRIDGE, Ore. - The Emigrant Fire, ignited by lightning on Aug. 24, has transitioned command to a local Type 4 Incident Commander as of this morning. According to the Middle Fork Type 3 Team, written updates will cease unless significant developments occur.
The fire spans 33,129 acres and is 62% contained. With most resources released, only 39 personnel remain to patrol and monitor the area. Suppression repair work is complete, but safety remains a priority.
Officials urge hunters and recreationalists to be cautious, as fire-related activities continue. A forest closure is still in effect, impacting affected areas and roads.
Weather is expected to cool, with rain predicted starting Wednesday night. Smoke may persist due to smoldering fuels, affecting nearby valleys.
