Omaha police investigating attack on nurse in hospital parking lot

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha police are investigating after a nurse was attacked in the employee parking lot at Methodist Hospital Saturday afternoon.

Police said the suspect threatened the victim with a weapon, took money, and attempted a sexual assault. The nurse was able to escape and is recovering.

Methodist Hospital confirmed the incident in a statement to First Alert 6:

“We can confirm that an employee was assaulted in the employee parking garage on Saturday. We continue to keep her in our thoughts and are grateful for her recovery. We have increased our security presence, are assessing other security opportunities, and are urging staff to be vigilant about their surroundings.”

According to Omaha police’s crime mapping data, incidents like this near 83rd and Dodge Streets are rare.
