EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Another year means another ‘State of the County’, and county commissioners wasted no time at covering projects.

The following are the Vanderburgh County commissioners:

District 1: Mike Goebel

District 2: Justin Elpers

Disrtict 3: Amy Canterbury

One of the most pressing topics was State budget cuts from Senate Bill 1.

Officials say they’ve had to be creative about how they use funds, but they’ve still been able to accomplish a lot.

“We are fiscally responsible, our county council does a great job in that, and they have done a fabulous job making sure we have the money available to run our county,” Canterbury stated.

One project currently in the works is the construction of the Vanderburgh County Jail Expansion, that officials say will add 127 new beds.
