PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Anger, sadness and reluctance. Tuesday morning, more than 20 people felt one or more of these emotions as they watched their temporary homes come apart.

Where the unhoused people were staying was private property owned by Cumulus, and used to house a few different radio stations that have since relocated.

Kshe Bernard, co-founder of outreach group LULA, said that she's been crying since Friday, when the city notified her that the encampment had to be cleared by Tuesday.

"Our folks look to us," she said. "We're out here five to seven days a week, depending, and they look to us for answers. We're the ones who advocate for them and help them navigate the systems. And there are no answers. I, too, am scared for our folks."
