Ahead of the onset of winters, the Public Works Department (PWD) has started preparing to tackle the dust and vehicular pollution on roads by deploying water sprinklers and anti-smog guns in Delhi, said officials.

According to a senior PWD official, the department has floated tenders to hire over 100 anti-smog guns mounted on trucks and water sprinklers. These are expected to be deployed across the city roads after Diwali, which is set to be celebrated on October 20.

“We already have some vehicles. The mechanical sweeping has been in place for several months. So, this year the government has also given directions to the departments concerned to be prepared to take necessary steps to tackle dust in the air,” said an official.
