Optus Chief Executive Stephen Rue refused to meet the Coalition during a visit to Parliament House, Sky News can reveal.

The embattled telco boss was summoned to Canberra on Tuesday by Communications Minister Anika Wells, alongside the leaders of Telstra and TPG.

Sky News has been told the Opposition’s Communications spokesperson Melissa McIntosh made two attempts to arrange time to meet with the Optus boss, including a request on Tuesday morning.

“I have asked the Optus CEO to meet twice now, but all I’ve been offered in return is his government relations manager,” Ms McIntosh told Sky News in a statement.

“I have genuine questions to ask him in the interests of Australians who are concerned that outages may impact them next,” she said.
