An 89-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a car in Franklin Monday morning, according to police.
Callers reported the crash near 354 Pleasant St. via 911 shortly after 8 a.m., Franklin police said in a press release . At the scene, firefighters and police found that a car had struck Franklin resident Ugo Ciannavei, leaving him critically injured.
First responders performed life-saving measures on Ciannavei before a medical helicopter took him to a local hospital, police said. He was declared dead a short time later.
Franklin police, the Massachusetts State Police crash reconstruction section and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office are still investigating Ciannavei’s death as of Tuesday afternoon. No further information had been released.
