ATLANTA — Hershel Walker, a former Heisman winner at the University of Georgia and later turned politician who ran against Sen. Raphael Warnock in the 2022 midterms, has been confirmed by the Senate to serve as a U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas.

Walker was one of more than 100 nominees that the Senate confirmed in a single vote. CNN reported this came after Republicans changed Senate rules last month that would allow for consideration of lower-level nominees all at one time.

Before President Donald Trump took office for his second term, he nominated Walker in December to serve in the role.

Walker served on Trump's first administration as co-chair of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. A previous statement from the Trump campaign at the time said that Walke
