CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A new North Carolina health order is allowing the state's pharmacists to test and treat patients with the flu without prescriptions.
Now, instead of having to go to your doctor or an urgent care clinic to get a prescription for flu medicine, people can come straight to the pharmacy. It saves them time and money.
Oakhurst Pharmacy in Charlotte is fully stocked with three different types of flu vaccines. Pharmacist Greg Deese has been giving out many shots in the past few weeks. He's also seen several sick people coming in for help.
"They're very sick and it seems like the intensity of that sickness is more than it has been in prior years," he said.
