RUSTBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - On Tuesday night, the Campbell County Board of Supervisors voted 5-2 to deny a proposal that would have allowed a data center to be built in the Concord area.

Supervisors were met with thunderous applause from a large crowd of concerned citizens after the vote to deny the proposal that would have allowed Mesh Capital LLC to build a data center on a 57-acre property off Richmond Highway and Cabin Field Road in the Concord area.

Concord District Supervisor Matt Cline made the motion for denial.

“This question is about are we going to protect the Concord Community from a potential data center or other egregious industries that are outside of the site plan? I believe that we should,” said Cline.
