KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Crossville city leaders have taken a step back on a city EMS service. This comes a month after they voted to approve it.
Crossville City Hall was jam-packed Tuesday evening with people voicing their frustrations about a potential city EMS because it would likely increase city property tax.
“Don’t put a tax burden on the taxpayers of the City of Crossville because it’s going to hurt a lot of people,” Cumberland County Commissioner Tom Isham said.
10 people spoke during city council’s public comment period, all opposed to the service. Most said they don’t like the idea of doubling their property taxes, while others said it’s not the right time for this.
“You sure don’t need to be raising my taxes. They’re already dog-gone high enough,” Roger Baker said.
