WOODBURN, Ky. (WBKO) -According to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, it is officially fall forest fire hazard season.

From Oct. 1 to Dec. 15, it is illegal to burn anything between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland.

Woodburn Volunteer Fire Chief Bob Skipper has been a fire fighter for 35 years.

“We have two seasons, one in the spring and one in the fall,” Skipper explains. “That’s when typically, we have the most danger of fires getting out of control and spreading quickly. Humidity levels are usually low, and winds are picking up some.”

This week is fire prevention week, and Skipper is spreading awareness on fire safety.
