WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Maui County Fair returned to record-breaking numbers reviving hope that Hawaii Island’s event could rebound next.

But are shipping costs and staff shortages too much of a challenge for the Big Island?

Hawaii News Now went to fair organizers for the answers.

The food, the fun, the rides – the Hawaii County Fair was an event where people made memories.

“It’s almost a decade of our children in the islands not knowing what a county fair actually was and that’s important. That’s so important and that’s why the dedication to keep this going is the utmost,” said Kelton Chang, president of the Hawaii County Fair Foundation.

The Big Island celebrated the 69th annual Hawaii County Fair in 2019.
