New Delhi: Former India captain Rohit Sharma made his first public appearance on Tuesday, attending the 27th edition of CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai. He was replaced by Shubman Gill as India’s ODI captain, ahead of the Australia tour, which is set to begin on October 19.

Rohit led the Indian team to consecutive ICC titles, winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy, received a special award at the event. While cricket fans admired his physical transformation, Rohit’s focus remained firmly on cricket.

This will be his first outing with the Indian team since the 2025 Champions Trophy triumph in March. Despite the incredible victory, he was removed from the captaincy, even though he had publicly expressed his desire to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
