The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has begun sending out letters about a scheme that could make households £150 better off this winter. The DWP started issuing these letters last month, with all correspondence expected to reach eligible individuals by roughly the start of January 2026.

These letters will confirm your eligibility for a £150 discount from the DWP on your energy bills. They will either indicate that the discount will be applied automatically or instruct you to contact the Warm Home Discount helpline to verify your details.

Those who qualify won't receive the money directly. Instead, the DWP issues energy providers with the £150 Warm Home Discount from October to March each year.

This DWP discount will then be credited to your electricity account as a one-off credit
