BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - One of our nation’s most famous artists became a Vermonter on this day in history.

Painter and illustrator Norman Rockwell purchased a home in Arlington on October 8th, 1938.

He moved in with his wife Mary and three sons and lived there for the next twelve years.

Rockwell produced over 4,000 original works in his lifetime and may be best known for more than 300 covers he painted for the Saturday Evening Post, often using models from the Arlington area.
