Kyle Connor isn’t going anywhere.
The Winnipeg Jets’ star forward, who’d been on course to become a free agent next summer, has inked an eight-year contract extension worth an average $12 million per season, the most lucrative contract the franchise has ever handed out.
The deal is reportedly loaded with bonuses, and not just an initial signing bonus. It also includes a full no-move clause, meaning the Jets can’t put Connor on the trade market without his approval for the length of the contract.
The 28-year-old set a career high with 97 points last season, including 41 goals and a career-best 56 assists, finishing among the NHL’s top-10 scorers, while being named a first-team all-star.
In 13 playoff games he led the team with 17 points, including five goals.
