Peter Kay has revealed he underwent emergency surgery after being told by a doctor his kidneys were ‘deranged’.

In his new book, Peter Kay’s Diary, which was released on Wednesday, the 52-year-old comedian detailed the horrifying health scare, which began with extreme pain while he travelled on the train to Wigan, which left him rushing to find a loo.

In March several years ago – days after his train pain – Peter began to feel a throbbing pain in his lower back, and after googling the symptoms he began suspecting he had a kidney stone.

He wrote, as per the Daily Mail: ‘Fast forward 24 hours, and my suspicions were confirmed via a CT scan at the local hospital. It turned out I had a big stone block in the exit of my right kidney.
