GRAND FORKS — The man killed Saturday night, Oct. 4, in Grand Forks when his vehicle was struck by a train has been publicly identified by law enforcement.
At approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, a 76-year-old Grand Forks man was high centered in his Chevrolet Equinox, facing south on the railroad tracks located northwest of the intersection of 16th Street Northeast and 17th Avenue Northeast, according to a press release issued by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The man has been identified as Scott Wahlstrand.
Wahlstrand sustained fatal injuries when his vehicle was struck by a BNSF train that was traveling eastbound. His vehicle was dragged approximately 60 feet before coming to rest along the railroad tracks.
