COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Hundreds of teachers from Colorado Springs’ largest school district picketed outside of Palmer High School on Wednesday.

Teachers, students, parents and grandparents gathered outside Palmer High School at 7 a.m., everyone wearing red in unison. Some strikers carried American Flags, others carried signs.

The strike came to be after the district finalized its plan to end its decades-long contract with the teachers’ union , Colorado Springs Education Association (CSEA), and created a handbook, which teachers say does not provide the same guarantees.

CSEA said Wednesday that it believes the district is trying to silence educators and parents.
